Lessons from the UN Non Communicable Disease Summit
Increased urbanization and rapid economic growth are contributing to unhealthy lifestyle choices. This in turn, has lead to alarmingly increasing incidence and prevalence of non communicable diseases (NCDs). The situation has become so urgent that world leaders unanimously endorsed the convening of The United Nations General Assembly Summit on the ‘Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases’ at the UN Headquarters in New York on 19—20 September.
